Be a Part of Fort Smith's History
The Fort Smith Visitors Center is getting a brand-new look in its soon-to-be-opened location at 524 Garrison Avenue. As we prepare to unveil this exciting space later this year, we’re calling on the community to help bring it to life.
Let’s celebrate the journey of Fort Smith – past, present, and future – together!
Help Us Create Two One-of-a-Kind Murals Celebrating Fort Smith
Inside the new Visitors Center, two stunning murals will tell the story of Fort Smith – one through the lens of history, the other through the vibrant present day leading to our bright future.
- Historical Mural: Highlighting Fort Smith’s rich history through archival and personal photos.
- Contemporary Mural: Showcasing the modern-day beauty and spirit of the city with recent photos from around town.
These murals will be crafted from hundreds of photographs submitted by people just like you! Whether it's a historical snapshot or a contemporary photo that captures Fort Smith’s energy, we want your photos to be a part of this unique art installation.

Why Your Photos Matter
We want to blend the past and present in a way that tells the complete story of our city – from its storied past to its promising future. Your photos will help create a powerful visual narrative that will be on display for both locals and visitors to enjoy.
Ashleigh Bachert, Executive Director of the Fort Smith Convention & Visitors Bureau, shares:
"We’re excited for the community to be a part of creating these murals. This art will tell the story of Fort Smith, blending the old with the new, and we want the people who make this city great to come together and help us create them."
